The Walking Horde is a free downloadable mod for 7 Days to Die - a survival zombie builder PC game. It is subdivided to two mod types, one is the overhaul mod, while the other is the UI mod. The overhaul mod adds several new features and logic into the game that makes it easier for players to survive during startup, while increasing to extreme the difficulty of the vital combat mechanics of the game. The UI mod makes the visual interface more like an RPG so you'll have all the needed statistics handy specially during zombie fights or survival adventures.

📙 story

Glad to see you are awake now. You survived the epidemic that destroyed the cult leaders and minions of the World Illuminated Forum (WIF) on Efsteen Island.

A deadly toxin (Stefanos Toxon) was released by the leaders of the "Illuminated" as the final solution (Great Restart) - to purge their hated "useless eater" masses in the name of faux climate change and eugenics. Their strategy (Oplan Pharmakeia) was to inoculate every soul with the SerpentVex serum. This secretive cocktail was laced with programmable Graphien nanogels that contained the payload of Lucisperish enzyme, Ebolla Marburger, and Hydra Vulgaries. Before they could unleash this genocide payload via 5G pulsing, one of their idle members - Kabala Hurries, betrayed them and poisoned their favorite fetal adrenochrone elixirs with mutated Toxoplasma Gondii parasites.

The Illuminateds all died and later turned into your dreaded zombies. The zombie bosses include Pill Gaits, Phony Fauscist, Jaw Cornpops Buythem, Nonesee Bellowshe, Brakback Obummer, Gringe Gnarls, Gorge Sauros, Claws Swabbed, Killary Cleantown, and Jovial Harakiri. As a former captive of the Illuminateds, you are a survivor of Efsteen Island overrun by zombies. You are also immune to this deadly disease.

Your mission is to survive the zombie apocalypse and find a safe haven, to organize a protected community for you and other incoming survivors. You will be provided with initial emergency supplies (apparel, mastery, profession, and food packs) as well as tools to fight through the zombie horde. You will also find throughout the locations the last remaining copies of the Holy Bible which they sought to eradicate. As an added note, there is a community nearby to whom you can also interact - the Truth Village Settlement. Now brother - stand-up, get ready, survive, and fight the zombie horde!

Players start the game with a Survival Bag. Players have three types of free supplies. Apparel, Mastery, Profession and Food. Players will need to open the survival bag, then accept a quest with contract agreement, then choose type of supplies that can be crafted using a required operating manual and a supply box.

• (The Startup Supplies logic contain recipes and quests which were inspired by Wolfbain5's mod. Our startup code and concept is largely different given that we implement Survival Bags, Books, Quests, Manuals, Bundles and Box Crates to open Startup Supplies [named Apparel (Clothes), Mastery (Weapons Bundle + Schematic, Ammo Bundle, Rescue Bundle and LCB), Profession (Supplies per specific job), and Food (Food Type Supplies)]. Other modders also have starter supplies like Valmar, High Hope, Khelldon/DoughPhunghus, War3zuk and Wolfbain5. We informed War3zuk since he also has a mod with starter recipes. We did not inform others like High Hope who has a starter mod with Quests, Valmar who has Starter Classes, and Khelldon/DoughPhunghus. Given that Wolfbain5 has the closest modlet to our logic of recipe, classes and quests (although much different still in our implementation ), we secured his approval for the logic inspiration.

How to install overhaul mod

Follow these steps to install the mod and make it work for your 7 Days to Die game

📌 Extract the zip or 7z archive to a folder
📌 Copy the folder to 7 Days installation Mods folder
📌 If you don't have a Mods folder, create one and paste the files to the Mods folder
📌 Make sure that you don't have other mods installed to ensure compatibility
📌 Only the mod dependencies can be installed together with our mod
📌 Start the game via 7 Days to Die launcher or by using the Mod Launchers

UI and Window interface changes

The UI and Window panels as well as icons were redesigned in this UI mod.

📌 The right stats bar still contains the item loot
📌 The left stats bar now contains player temperature, elevation, water, food, kills and deaths
📌 The middle belt bar now contains 10 item slots, player health and player stamina (more like RPG style spheres)
📌 The middle compass bar still contains the compass with a changed icon pointer, the day and time on the sides, as well as the stealth bar in the middle
📌 The player buffs are moved to right center with a diamond background design
📌 Gas and Vehicle stats are now at the middle with changed colors
📌 Graphical transparent background (blood and dirt like) is also visible behind the interface panels
